4.19.5.5 How to prepare your media buying activities and send them to a DSPs or Social Media Platform with the ADvendio Buying Pilot?

Role

Order Manager - Fulfilment, System Administrator

Version

1.0

Challenge:

Once the budgets are set and the advertiser agreed to the campaign planning, it’s time to set up your orders and items in a DSP or Social Media Platform. Ideally this should be started from ADvendio, so you can directly build up the connection to your Items and use ADvendios delivery features, to automatically receive media cost and performance data.

How can the ADvendio Buying Pilot extension support to you to streamline this process and build a direct connection between your planning items and the orders and items in a DSP or Social Media Platform?

Solution:

Overview of the key information

Once you open your Campaign Item with the ADvendio Buying Pilot, we offer a predefined Layout, which highlights the key information.

You can see for example the planning time frame and the Amount you offered to your Advertiser.

If relevant you can also check your initial budget, how much has been already spent and how much of the budget is used in percent (For more information on planning budgets via Campaign Item, see: LINK MISSING)

If you click on the related tab, you can see all the relevant Buying Orders and Items, which were already created. You can see key information, like the budget used for planning each item, the actual media cost and other KPI like the number of impressions, conversions or the eCPM.

Plan your Media Buying with Buying Orders and Buying Items

Now that your budget and goals are planned on the Campaign Item, you want to move into actually defining your media spend.

This can be items that are directly booked into DSPs or Social Media platforms, or you can create orders, which you will send to publishers and suppliers. You are flexible in how detailed you want to break down the elements, but each of those will offer you ways to track the total media cost and easily compare it to your Campaign Item Amount, to make sure you don’t spend more money than initially planned!

Guided panning via the Plan Media Buying flow (Available with Extension Version 1.2)

In order to use the Plan Media Buying flow, you will need to go through some specific setup steps. These can also help you to easily customize our flow to your own needs:

To help you go through the media buying process more smoothly, will taking care of the all the individual settings, our Buying Extension offers a simple step by step flow, which guides you and helps making the right decisions.

To start the Buying Flow, please look for the button labeled ‘Plan Media Buying’ on your Campaign Item.

This will open a new window to help you configure your individual Buying Orders and Buying Items:

After selecting your Platform / Media Buying type, you will be guided through the individual steps and settings. With our Media Buying extension, we offer you an example for each of our natively integrated platforms (Google DV360, Facebook/Instagram, Xandr Invest), as well as examples to handle direct media buying or reselling of services.

Quick and easy bulk editing

Additionally you can also use our bulk edit component for the Buying Orders and Items, which is available in the ADvendio core package (Available with ADvendio version 2.146). This can help you to view all your Orders and Items at the same time and quickly modify some settings.

More information on that can be found in our wiki section on how to configure Buying Orders & Items.

View the Buying Orders and Buying Items for your Campaign Item

After you’re done with the planning, you can use the Layouts we included in the Media Buying Extension to view all your Buying Orders and Buying Items. Simply click on the related tab:

Now if you open the Buying Order, the ADvendio Pilot offers you the following overview. There is a section at the top, which again shows you the connected Campaign Items. This way you can easily compare your Buying Order with your initial planning.

Below that, there is a detail section, highlighting all key fields of the Buying Order as well as the total cost and actuals from all connected items.

If you click on the tab called ‘related’ you can view all Buying Items that are connected. Those represent individual positions with costs, impressions, own budgets, bidding settings and more.

If you click the button ‘Create New Buying Item’ you can quickly configure a new item for your Buying Order. Otherwise you can use the components from the ADvendio package as shown above.

Traffick your Orders and Items to connected DSPs or Social Media Platforms

Once you’re done with the configuration, you can also use ADvendio to directly send the Orders and Items into a DSP of Social Media Platform. For example via our integration to Google Display & Video 360.

This allows you to automatically create the fitting orders and items in your platform and save time by transferring the data from ADvendio to the DSP/Social Media Platform. In the same step this will also help you get the right connection into ADvendio, so you can later automatically sync your media spend actuals back!
