3.5.8.2 Enhanced Key Value Targeting Integration with Xandr Monetize

Overview

ADvendio has released an important enhancement to simplify and scale your targeting capabilities when selling media inventory via Xandr Monetize. This new feature significantly improves the handling of complex Key Value targeting, removing previous limitations and streamlining your campaign setup process.

Benefits of the New Update

  • Simplified Setup: Sales users can easily select predefined Targeting Sets with just a click. No need to select multiple technical keys and values manually, just pick your target criteria and ADvendio does the rest.

  • Efficient Integration: Targeting criteria are automatically synchronized with Xandr, reducing manual configuration.

  • Expanded Capability: Overcomes previous limitations of maximum key criteria, enabling nearly unlimited criteria within the same category.

How It Works

Previously, ADvendio campaigns had a limitation due to Xandr's Platform constraints, allowing a maximum of around 20-50 targeting criteria. Our latest update introduces an optimized integration using the 'IN' operator, allowing multiple values from the same key to be merged seamlessly. This enhancement dramatically reduces the complexity and increases the number of targeting options you can use.

Setting Up Enhanced Targeting

  1. Update Permissions and Field access:

    • Make sure the field KeyValueMerge__c on the TargetingSet__c object is available to your users, by adding it to the required profiles and permissions sets.

    • If you are planning to report or view it in related lists or lists views, you might need to add the field also there manually. The Targeting Sets Wizard by ADvendio automatically shows the new field, without further steps.

  2. Create Targeting Sets

    • Open the Targeting Sets Wizard.

    • Select the relevant Xandr connection as your target platform.

    • Go to the Key Values tab

    • Check the option for KeyValue Merge.

    • Define your targeting keys and specify values using "Include" or "Exclude" operators.

  3. Optional: Link to Targeting Groups

    • You may link Targeting Sets to dedicated Targeting Groups for improved categorization.

    • Targeting Groups allow you to determine if different categories of Keys will be linked via AND / OR operator. More information can be found here.

  4. Apply to Campaigns

    • In your ADvendio Campaign Builder, select relevant Targeting Sets or Targeting Groups.

Example Use Case: Regional Targeting

Imagine needing to target users based on regional data collected from multiple data platforms integrated into Xandr. With this feature:

  • Create individual Targeting Sets for each region.

  • Assign keys and regional values from each data platform.

  • Users simply select the relevant regional Targeting Sets in the campaign.

This setup automatically ensures all necessary keys and values are correctly configured in Xandr, eliminating manual adjustments and potential for errors.

Important Notes

  • This feature specifically applies to Xandr Monetize.

  • The new setting needs to be activated, if you have already existing Targeting Sets for Xandr, you will need to modify them:

    • Edit the existing Targeting Set record

    • Navigate to the Key Values Section

    • Check the option for KeyValue Merge and Save the Targeting Set.

  • Our recommendation is to use this logic, when handling targeting which requires many selected criteria across multiple keys and values (like Regions, ZipCodes, more specific audience criteria)

  • When KeyValue Merge is activated:

    • All key values within a Targeting Set merge into a single logical group.

    • The only available logical operator within groups is "OR".

    • Only the "Includes" or "Excludes" operators are usable to maintain clarity.
