Reasons for Inventory Blocking

When your inventory is not clearly defined and unique, it may be necessary to block some inventory if others have already been sold. This could be due to the following reasons:

  1. physical reasons, such as overlapping inventory items,

  2. political reasons, where certain slots will not sell if others have already been taken.

For example, if you have the option to can sell a page in your periodical as either two half pages or one whole page, selling one or the other to a customer would limit your available offers.

To block inventory, use ℹ️ Use ADvendio's "blocking inventory" objects and related lists to block inventory.

Types of blocking

ADvendio can manage the following blocking types:

  1. Placements

  2. AdTypes

  3. AdSpecs

  4. Content

Doing so The process is easy and it works the same identical for all three four objects.

To create Blocked Placements/AdTypes/AdSpec/, Ad Types, Ad Specs, or Content Records, follow these simple steps:

  1. Navigate to the app and select either the category you want to block: "Blocked Placements," "Blocked AdTypesAd Types," "Blocked AdSpecsAd Specs," or "Blocked Content."

  2. In the new window, add the following detailsrelated list to your page layout and define which record blocks it:

    • Master Placements/AdSpec/AdTypes/ContentBlocked Placements/AdSpec/AdTypes/Content, Ad Specs, Ad Types, or Content (depending on the category selected)

    • Blocked Placements, Ad Specs, Ad Types, or Content (depending on the category selected)

    • Blocking Factor

  3. Save to apply your changes.

You can do it only one way using master and dependent records or create two records if they both block each other.

ℹ️ In the "Booked Inventory" section, when you see Contending Items highlighted in red, keep these statuses in mind:

  • BLOCKED: This means that half of a full page is reserved in the calendar, and it's highlighted in red.

  • BOOKED: This indicates that your Media Campaign has been scheduled, including a reservation for half of a page.

In the booking calendar, not only will your booked product be labelled as "BOOKED," but the BLOCKED product (half :

  • Products blocked by the Blocking feature will have a red background in the Contending items

  • Directly blocked items will have a white background behind the Contending items.

When you check the booking calendar, you will see that not only your booked product is marked as "Booked or Offered," but the Blocked product (which takes up half a page) will also appear as "BOOKEDBooked/ Offered." The details section of the calendar will provide you with information about the Contending Campaign, which is the refers to product booking. Products blocked by the Blocking feature will have a red background in the Contending section, while directly blocked items will have a white background behind the Contending items.

Important information:

Please note that if you are using any of the three Blocking Types, it is essential to ensure that your booking calendar template displays exactly specific field for that Placement, AdType, or AdSpec name. Otherwise, the blocking may not be accurately marked on the calendar. You can find instructions on how to set up your booking calendar in section 7.2.4 Setup Booking Calendar.Blocked Ad Types only apply to the same Placement, not across different Placements.

Constant Quantity = Quantity (When the constant quantity equals the quantity, they are considered the same.).
