Challenge:
Equativ AdServer only allows using a single format for an insertion.
Let’s say a package of different formats shall be sold to a customer, e.g. an ad on the web and the mobile version of a site. This will require two different items in Equativ. To make this more flexible Equativ offers to give those items a shared goal. This way, for example, 100.000 Impressions will be sold across both and both items will stop delivering once the 100.000 AI in total is reached.
How can this be used in ADvendio and is it possible to create Campaign Items with such a shared goal across multiple formats?
Solution:
ADvendio offers the possibility to submit a single Campaign Item into multiple Equativ insertions. This way you can sell multiple formats to customers also in a single Campaign Item.
In order to use this, the formats to target need to be configured. There are multiple ways for the product management or system administrator to do this. For example in the product definition via Ad Type or with the inventory targeting feature.
To continue creating the Campaign Item as usual and submit it to Equativ via the submit to AdServer feature. This will start the submission process and create an insertion for each format used.
Once submitted the fields Ad Id and Additional Ad ID show the ids of all Insertions in Equativ connected to this Campaign Item.
The Campaign Items quantity will be used as a shared goal across all connected insertions. If the quantity is changed, this change will be transferred to Equativ the next time the submit button is used, and affects all connected insertions, just like with regular items.
To use a separate goal for each format, make sure that only one format at a time is configured for a Campaign Item. This way only one insertion gets assigned to a Campaign Item.
Currently there is no other way in ADvendio to decide if to use shared goals or not.
Setup:
In order to use this feature there is no specific configuration needed.
Once created, ADvendio saves an external group id, which is needed for our Equativ integration to share the common goal across all the insertions created. This part is needed for the technical integration. The field can be included in the page layout and shown to the user, but that is not necessary in order to submit items to Equativ Please make sure that the relevant user profile has read and edit permissions to this field.
