When creating a package, you can choose between different distributions. The distribution relates to the impressions planned to deliver.

The following table shows the available distribution types for a Package Ad Spec, depending on the available billing category of the Ad Price for the Package Ad Spec, and the billing categories for its Component Ad Specs. You can decide if discounts, third party commission or agency earnings are not allowed for specific Ad Prices. This won't work for linear and prorated packages, as the discounts are defined by the package header. If you want to use packages where discounts, third party commission or AE are not allowed for single components, please check if you can use individual packages (with fixed quantity) instead. |
When you create or edit an ad spec of the record type Packet, you can choose between the values Individual, Linear and Prorated from the Distribution pick-list. After the editing or creation, click Save.
Components of a package with linear distribution all start and end on the same day. As a result, you only need to define the package's runtime.
The pricing information of linearly distributed packages can be adjusted by changing the package's quantity and sales price. While the quantity is then applied to all components, the sales price is split equally among the components.
When you edit a package in a media campaign, you will notice there are differences compared to normal campaign items. For packages with individual distribution, the period of time the package covers is automatically calculated by the values entered for the different components. The package runs from the earliest start date until the latest end date. Even periods of time not covered by any component will be part of the overall timeframe covered by the package.
From version 2.92 up you are able to split the components of Individual Packages when they do not have a fixed quantity applied.
For CPM/CPC individual packages the quantity is always the total of the components' quantity, for fixed price packages it will always be 1 at the package header.
As you can see for the first package the headers sales price is the calculated average price of all components (based on their entered quantity). The second fixed price package has the sum of all components' prices multiplied with their quantity as sales price. To influence the package headers sales price you need to configure the individual package components.
You can define prorated packages using the picklist value Prorated in the picklist Distribution. The percentage of each package component could be defined using the field Ratio while adding a new component. The amount will be divided according to the percentage value in the field Ratio. Prorated packages have the same behaviour as linear packages except for the distribution.
