Challenge

To streamline sales processes and allow Sales Reps and Order Managers to easily choose products for their Campaign Items. Certain pre-configurations need to be done to contain the right settings to send over to an external system like an AdServer.

Usually, those products are Ad Specs, which consist of the medium/site where an ad is running and the specific format (Ad Type).

The Ad Type will contain numerous technical and format settings, which will be sent automatically to an external system together with the Campaign Item in FreeWheel.

How can these Ad Types be created? And which settings for FreeWheel need to be done on Ad Type to make it work?

Solution

When creating Ad Types for FreeWheel, please make sure to fill in the information below, explaining which fields equal which settings in the AdServer:

  • To create a new FreeWheel Ad go to the main menu, access Ad Types in ADvendio (or type in the App Launcher: Ad Types), and select New (Ad Type → New)

If you want to use another Delivery Rate Type for a certain Campaign Item there is also a field Delivery Rate Type on the Campaign Item, which you can manually set to overwrite the Delivery Rate Type of the Ad Type.   

“Active” (checkbox option)

In the Adspecs & Rates manager, Inventory & Rates Manager, Booking Calendar, Create & Update Rates Manager and AGOF Connect, only active marked records will be available

Adserver information

Data provided in “Adserver information” section is changing Ad configuration in FreeWheel

Connection

Enter the Ad server login to be used with this Ad type.

7.3.1.1 Which Login User do I use to create Login records

Priority is Optional: It sets the override mode for the placement.

After selecting all the necessary fields for FreeWheel Ad, don't forget to press Save.

The pacing is set using the Campaign item delivery rate type (ADvendio_CampaignItem.DeliveryRateType__c). 4.3.6 Frequency Capping is done the same as for all other AdServers. 

Check this table for the setup of your Ad Types for FreeWheel (From version 2.102 and up we set the default values to avoid error messages).

Setup

The System Administrator might need to add certain fields to the page layout of the Ad Type to make sure they are available for the users. The Admin might also need to add new values to existing picklist fields in order to match the ones mentioned above if they are missing.

You can override these settings on Campaign Item level (2.119 and up): 4.2.5.6 How to override Item Type and Goal settings from your Ad Type on Campaign Items(Ad Type, Goal Type, Goal Percent / Quantity).
