Challenge

If you plan to use the ADvendio platform features to buy media via The Trade Desk using ADvendio, this article will guide you through the necessary fields and configurations to set up your Buying Items with The Trade Desk Integration.


Solution

Initially, certain configurations must be set up in Salesforce to enable access to all required Picklist options for future setups:

  1. Access Setup

  2. Navigate to Object Manager

  3. In the search box find "Buying Order."

  4. Click on "Buying Order" to proceed.

  5. Proceed to the "Record Type" section and choose "THETRADEDESK."

  6. If the following fields have not been created yet, set them up with the specified values and Save:

    • Order Goal -> Add the following values -> Save

      • Consideration

      • Conversion

      • Brand Awareness

    • Channel -> Add the following values -> Save

      • ATV/CTV

      • DooH

      • Programmatic Cinema

    • Order Type -> Add the following values -> Save

      • Standard

1. Buying Configuration

To begin the buying configuration process for successfully pushing Buying Orders/Items to the Trade Desk, follow these steps:

  1. Access the App Launcher and search for "Buying Configuration."

  2. Once in the "Buying Configuration" section, click on "New" to start

  • General Information

    • Select “The Trade Desk” connection and select the “Active” checkbox

  • Ad Price

    • Select the right one

  • Buying Order Fields, select the following:

    • Channel (Required)

    • Advertiser (Required)

    • Insertion Order ID

    • Status

    • Order Type (Required)

    • Start Date (Required)

    • End Date (Required)

    • Order Pacing (Required)

    • Order Goal (Required)

    • Budget Amount (Required)

    • Budget Amount Daily

    • Selected Targeting

    • Buying Item Order Campaign Status (Required)

    • Budget Impressions

  • Buying Items Fields, select the following:

    • Line Item ID

    • Status (Required)

    • Selected Targeting

    • Bid Amount (Required)

    • Max Bid (Required)

    • Budget Amount (Required)

    • Budget Impression

    • Budget Impression Daily

    • Start Date (Required)

    • End Date (Required)

    • Error Messages

2. Buying Order

To initiate the process of buying media through The Trade Desk, you need to define a Campaign using the ADvendio Buying Order. Here are the steps:

  1. Access the App Launcher and search for "Buying Orders"

  2. Once in the "Buying Orders" section, click on "New" to begin

  3. Choose the appropriate Source

    1. Select the Record Type as "THETRADEDESK"

    2. Choose the previously created Connection

    3. Click on "Save

  4. Add a name for the Buying Order

  5. Complete all the required fields to determine your TTD Campaign objective

When creating a new Buying Order, ensure the presence of the following fields:

3. Buying Item

Once you have created a Buying Order, you can proceed to configure individual Buying Items, which correspond to The Trade Desk AdGroups+Flights. These Buying Items allow you to manage your programmatic media spend by setting up details such as bidding strategy, goals, and automatic optimizations. You have the flexibility to create as many Buying Items as needed for your Buying Order.

⚠️ Limitation

However, it's essential to be aware of the following limitations:

  1. Each Buying Item represents an AdGroup + Flight combination

  2. Multiple Flights within a Buying Item cannot overlap with each other. This means you have two options:

    1. Create multiple Buying Items within one Buying Order, all having the same time frame OR

    2. You need to ensure that the dates of all Buying Items in the Buying Order do not overlap with each other
