1.2.5 Dashboards

A dashboard shows data from reports in a visualized form. The visualization provides an intuitive description of key metrics and performance indicators for your organization.

Creating a New Dashboard in Salesforce Lightning

  1. Navigate to Dashboards

    • From the Salesforce home page, locate the Dashboards tab on the navigation bar and click on it.

  2. Create a New Dashboard

    • Click on the New Dashboard button located at the top right of the Dashboards page.

  3. Enter Dashboard Details

    • Enter a name for your dashboard, add a description if needed, and select the appropriate folder.

    • To create a private dashboard, ensure that Private Dashboards is selected as the folder. Click Create to proceed.

  4. Add Components to the Dashboard

    • After creating the dashboard, click + Widget to add a new component.

  5. Select a Report

    • In the "Select Report" dialog, search for and select the report you want to use as a data source for the widget.

  6. Configure the Widget

    • Choose the type of chart or table to display your data. Customize the widget by adding titles, subtitles, and footers if necessary. Click Add to insert the widget into your dashboard.

  7. Resize and Arrange Widgets

    • You can resize and rearrange the widgets by dragging their corners and sides to fit your layout preferences.

  8. Save and Finalize the Dashboard

    • Once you have added and arranged all the necessary widgets, click Save and then Done to finalize your dashboard.
