2.1.10 European VAT Id Verify

This feature can be used to verify customer Vat IDs using the European Commission webservice http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/vatRequest.html?locale=en VIES. Users can check the Vat IDs for one or multiple accounts. This feature has to be set up by your local administrator. Please create a remote site with this link to allow ADvendio VAT ID Verify.

Note: The European VAT ID Verify feature confirms whether the ID is legitimately registered for cross-border business transactions within the EU. However, it does not verify whether the VAT ID corresponds to the correct Account in ADvendio — for example, it will not flag a mismatch if a valid VAT ID belonging to Company A is entered on the Account record for Company B. Users should independently confirm that the VAT ID belongs to the account in question.

Step-by-step guide

There are two options to validate the Vat IDs: Single and Multiple ID verifications.

Single Vat ID Verification 

Note: By default, the Vat ID Flag is set yellow if the record is new or if Vat ID Verify has not been done for the record. 

Validate only one Account:

  • Navigate to the Detail page of the Account whose Vat ID you would like to check

  • In the Country field, select the corresponding country prefix from the dropdown menu as shown below

  • Enter the ID Number in the VAT Id Number field. This field will only accept alphanumeric values.

  • Once the ID has been entered, click on the Verify VAT ID button the status gets set:

The result of the test is shown via the coloration of the VAT ID Flag and through the VATIDInquiryResults field. 

  • Green Flag

    = VAT ID number is Valid and the field VATIDInquiryResults is updated to " Yes, valid VAT number. ".

  • Red Flag

    = VAT ID number is Invalid and the field VATIDInquiryResults is updated to " No, invalid VAT number. " 

  • Yellow Flag

    = Service is unavailable or an error has occurred while processing your request. The field VATIDInquiryResults is updated to "Service unavailable. Please try again.".

 

Multiple Vat ID Verification (Batch verification)

To validate multiple VAT IDs at once, navigate to the Vat ID Check tab.

The filter in the top row can be used to sort data by country prefix, Last check start date, and last check end date.  The filter criteria Start Date should be before the End Date. If input start date value is greater than end date below error message will be displayed.

 

  1. Select one or multiple records and click on "Run" button.

  2. Once click on Run Button below message will be displayed and batch processed result will be send by email.
