3.1.4.4.3 How Billing Categories are Mapped to Third Party Integrations (AdServers, SSPs ect.)
Challenge:
Billing Categories are a vital part of ADvendio Campaign Planning, they determine how you bill your positions and which pricing is used (e.g. per 1000 impressions via CPM)
This information is also sent to integrated systems if you are pushing Campaign Items via our Submit to AdServer Feature. Which information is sent for which Billing Category in ADvendio?
Solution:
See an overview of how Billing Categories from your Campaign Item are mapped to different AdServers:

Breaking Change ADvendio Summer 2024 Release (2.171)
What is changing:
In the past, ADvendio has used not the Billing Category information of the Campaign Item, but of the Ad Price, to decide which billing category to send to a Third Party System.
Starting the 2.171 version, we will change this behavior and instead take the Billing Category information directly from the Campaign Item record.
Â
Are you impacted?
The change can affect you if your users manually change the Billing Category directly on Campaign Items.
Most of our customers should not be directly affected by this change. The ADvendio default is, that Campaign Item and Ad Price use the same Billing Category. In this case, Nothing will change.
Â
Can I still use the old settings?
Yes, you will still have the possibility to activate the ‘old’ logic and use the Ad Price Record Billing Category. While we strongly recommend not changing Billing Categories on Campaign Items directly
To activate the ‘old’ logic, you need to go to your Connection Record of the desired integration (if you are using multiple Third Party Systems, this needs to be done for each one of them)
Modify the field: Connection Features
Select the value ‘Use Ad Price Billing Category’
Save the record.
If you do not see the option in your field, you will need to manually update the picklist values in the Object Manager in the Salesforce setup. Make sure to create a new picklist value with exactly the following:
‘Use Ad Price Billing Category’
As of right now, the option to go back to the old logic is a temporary solution. We plan to deactivate it by March 2025 Release. Please contact our Support Team or your Technical Account Manager, if this will cause problems on your end, so they can forward it to our product team.
Setup:
There is no specific setup required. If you have trouble seeing individual Billing Categories in ADvendio, check the object setup and how the picklist fields are configured.
