10.1.2. Frequency Capping in the Targeting Component
Overview
Frequency Capping allows you to control how often users are exposed to your ads within a specific timeframe, preventing ad fatigue and optimizing campaign reach. ADvendio provides a user-friendly interface within the Targeting Component to configure frequency caps for supported Media Buying platforms like Xandr and Google Display & Video 360 (DV360).
This ensures your desired capping settings in ADvendio are accurately reflected when submitted to the respective buying platform.
Access Frequency Capping in ADvendio
You can access the Frequency Capping UI within the Targeting section when configuring Buying Orders or Buying Items for supported platforms. It's also available when setting targeting on a Campaign Item in Campaign Builder or within Targeting Sets.
Configuring Frequency Capping for Xandr
Availability: Frequency Capping settings for Xandr are configured at the Buying Item level.
Access: When creating or editing an Xandr Buying Item, navigate to the Targeting tab/section and expand the Frequency Capping accordion.
Settings:
Impressions: Enter the maximum number of impressions allowed.
Unit: The time unit is pre-set to Days and cannot be changed for Xandr via this UI.
Limit: Only one frequency capping rule (row) can be created per Buying Item.
Serve only 1 imp per page: Check this box to limit ad serving to once per page view. This mirrors the corresponding toggle in the Xandr platform.
Include users without cookies: Check this box to apply the frequency cap even to users without cookies. This also mirrors the Xandr platform setting.
Saving: You can edit and save these settings directly within the component.

Configuring Frequency Capping for DV360
Frequency Capping for Google DV360 is available with ADvendio Version 2.177
Availability: Frequency Capping for DV360 can be configured at both the Buying Order (Insertion Order level in DV360) and the Buying Item (Line Item level in DV360) levels. It's also available when setting targeting on a Campaign Item in Campaign Builder or within Targeting Sets.
Access:
Buying Order/Item: When creating or editing a DV360 Buying Order or Buying Item, navigate to the Targeting tab/section and expand the Frequency Capping accordion.
Campaign Builder: When configuring a Campaign Item linked to DV360, find Frequency Capping within the main Targeting tab.
Targeting Sets Wizard: Add Frequency Capping as a criteria when building or editing a Targeting Set.
Settings:
Impressions: Enter the maximum number of exposures (impressions/views depending on DV360 context) allowed.
Time: Enter the numerical value for the time period (e.g., enter
3
if the unit is Days).Unit: Select the time unit for the frequency cap from the dropdown menu:
Month (Number must be 1)
Weeks (Number can be 1-4)
Days (Number can be 1-6)
Hours (Number can be 1-23)
Minutes (Number can be 1-59)
Limit: You can only define one frequency capping rule (row) per level (Order or Item).
Limit: Campaign Item Frequency Capping is currently automatically copied down on Buying Items, when using the Campaign Item Targeting & Creation of Buying Items in our UI.
Hierarchy: Note that in DV360, frequency caps set at the Buying Order (Insertion Order) level can act as an overall cap for the linked Buying Items (Line Items). ADvendio currently does not enforce validation that the Item cap must be stricter than the Order cap within the UI.
Saving: Save your settings within the component (Buying Order/Item creation), Campaign Builder, or Targeting Set Wizard.
By accurately configuring these settings in ADvendio, you ensure your frequency capping strategy is correctly implemented on the respective buying platforms.
