1.1. Overview

You can now limit how often your Pinterest ads are shown to users by setting Frequency Capping directly within ADvendio. This new feature is designed to help you manage campaign performance by defining how frequently ads are delivered to users.

The Frequency Capping can be set via a dedicated component at the Buying Item level, without the need to add new fields to the Pinterest Layout.


1.2. How It Works

1.2.1. Set Frequency Capping

  • Create a new Pinterest Buying Item or open an existing one and press the Edit button.

  • Click on the Targeting tab.

  • Click on the pencil icon in the targeting section of the Buying item to open the targeting tree

  • Navigate to the Frequency Capping category, click on it to open the component.

  • The preset values are: Impressions: 8 and Unit: Weeks, but they can be changed as described in the following steps.
    Enter an amount between 2 and 20 in the Impressions field to define how many times the ad can be shown.

  • Choose from the following frequency types in the Unit menu:

    • Weekly – e.g., show the ad up to 8 times every 7 days.

    • Monthly – e.g., show the ad up to 8 times every 30 days.

  • Press “Save and Back“ once you have completed your selection to return to the Buying Item.

  • Please note that the Pinterest Buying Configuration allows adding the Frequency Capping field to the layout as well, but we recommend hiding it and only using the dedicated component.

1.2.2. Submit as Usual

Once your Buying Item includes the Frequency Capping settings, proceed with your Buying Order submission to Pinterest as normal.


1.3. Smart Bidding Logic

ADvendio now also handles Bidding options (located in the Optimisation and delivery section in Pinterest) by acting on the Bid Amount field (ensure it’s present in the Buying Item layout) as follows:

  • Leave the Bid Amount empty → Activates Performance+ bidding (recommended).

  • Enter a Bid Amount → Activates Custom bidding, and automatically uses the value to set the “Target CPM Rate” in Pinterest.

This dual functionality lets you switch between bidding strategies without extra clicks, simply by adding or removing the Bid Amount value.


Notes & Limitations

  • Frequency Capping is only supported at the Buying Item level.

  • The number of Impressions must be an integer between 2 and 20.

  • Currently, the "Monthly Frequency Cap" field used in Pinterest is not supported — the Frequency Target field is used instead.

  • This feature is available as of version 2.176.
