4.20.1.11 Advanced FreeWheel Targeting in Campaign Builder

Challenge

How to set advanced targeting as combination of inventory and video targeting up for FreeWheel items.


Solution

This feature allows users to configure Video and Inventory Targeting for Freewheel in ADvendio, using the existing “Adserver Targeting” field. The implementation supports logical operators such as AND/OR, enabling precise targeting configurations to be applied.

Supported Targeting Options

Freewheel supports a maximum of three groups, which can include IDs from both Inventory and Video targeting types. Additionally, one exclusion group is supported to exclude certain content from the targeting logic.

Within each group, users can choose if the previously selected targeting of type Inventory Targeting or Video Content Targeting should be AND or OR related. Users can also define whether the groups themselves should be combined using AND or OR, with the exclusion group being an exception, as it always acts as an exclusion.

Supported Targeting Types

  • Inventory Targeting: Site, Site Section, Site Group (Other types are not supported).

  • Video Content Targeting: Video, Video Series, Video Group.

Implementation Details

This functionality was integrated into the Campaign Builder Targeting selection.

  1. UI Tab in Campaign Builder for Freewheel items:
    A new fixed tab was introduced, with a button positioned at the top right to enabled setting advanced targeting settings.

  1. Targeting Groups Logic:
    The UI will allow users to define targeting groups and specify if IDs within each group are related by AND/OR operators.

Dependency Deletion:
If a value used in the advanced targeting is deleted in the inventory or video content targeting section, it will be removed from the advanced targeting as well.
