Challenge

You want to give your customers more control over when their ads are displayed. For example, you might want to avoid having the ads displayed during certain times of the day. This is a challenge to ensure that the ad campaigns are effective while also respecting their ad preferences.

Solution

The solution is to use a Google Blackouts feature that allows customers to set specific timeframes during which their ads will not be delivered. The customers can edit existing campaign items or create new ones, and then select the Blackout option. Once this is done, the blackout information is synced with Google Ad Manager during the submission process. This ensures that the ad is not delivered during the specified blackout timeframe.

Add Google Blackouts

This feature allows customers to edit existing campaign items or create new ones, and then select the Blackout option.

You need to select an AdType with Google Ad Manager for this feature to be available.

Make sure to select From(Date) and Until(Date) the Period tab to be able to select Blackout feature.

  • In the main menu Go to Media Campaigns, select your campaign

  • Go to the Media Search option and add your campaign items

  • Click on Start Campaign Builder

  • Go to the Targeting tab

  • Under menu the new window will open, search and select Set Blackouts

  • To start using this feature press +Add Blackout and select Blackout Start/End date and Start/End time

  • You can Delete your created Blackout or edit your Blackout Times and Dates

  • After hitting Save and Back and you will see your Blackout summarised under the Targeting tab
